Professional Profile
Mr Bloomfield was born in Harare, Zimbabwe. He obtained his
undergraduate degree at the Godfrey Huggins School of
Medicine, University of Zimbabwe in 1983. The Conjoint Board
of Examiners, Scotland awarded the qualifications LRCP(Edin);
LRCS(Edin); LRCP&S(Glas) the same year.
His post-graduate Orthopaedic qualifications were obtained
in South Africa after registrar training in Cape Town and
Pretoria.
In 1996, Mr Bloomfield emigrated with his family to the
United Kingdom to take up a Consultant post in the NHS at
Ashford Hospital (Middlesex). In many ways, this was the
wheel turning full circle as his father was born in
Woodford, East London. Ashford Hospital merged with St
Peter's Hospital, Chertsey in 1999 and Mr Bloomfield was
appointed Clinical Director, Trauma and Orthopaedic services
of the combined Trust in 2002. Mr Bloomfield's special
interest is Hip surgery but he continues to practise in
other areas of Trauma & Orthopaedics as his workload
demands.
