7 month update...

..on a cold and windy december morning, i was thinking the
following on the way home from my first race back on the
bike:
1) BHR Dr Bose: 4/12/07
2) Return home from resurfacing in india, walked 3 blocks:
5/02/07
3) First Win: western states time trial: 12/02/07:
...bless you pat, the website, and all the others who have
inspired me-came before me...
...my life, AND my athletic life are back ! ...no, i'm not
just jogging, i'm dropping some sub 6 minute mile running
repeats on the track, and winning again on the bike, my
first race back in the saddle ! (picture attached)
...to all of those who need to know, who wonder, who are
putting it off, who are in pain, who need hope... the
birmingham hip and dr bose in chennai india are awesome !
...i couldn't have done this without faith, without athlete
cory foulk before me, pat and the website, and dr bose's
staff...
...now: ..you can do it too !
...i'll keep you posted about me earning my team usa spot
back.

I really want to add a couple of notes to what inspired me
other than my burning desire to embrace and allow the normal
kind of athletic, intimate relationship, inspiring business,
family activities, and smiling energy back into my life...
was the story of tour de france winner floyd landis choosing
the birmingham hip resurfacing part system and suregry
technique for himself to get back into the game and a few
personal friends who told me i was on the right path...
which then allowed me to find your website in the area
called resurfacing, which allowed me to find cory's story,
which allowed me to feel hope, which allowed me to be here
in india with dr vijay bose...or in birmingham with dr ronan
treacy...or in belgium with dr desmet, your surgeon...or
choose an assortment of parts and that's where we'll pick up
when i get on the other side of this in a few days... see,
it's time to say goodbye to the old hip, it's been an
amazing ride... 51 marathons, 75,000 running miles, 500,000
cycling miles, races too numerous to mention.. so i sit
here, about to retire a body part and embrace a new one...
yes,
"..it's hip to have a new hip" ..no matter what age, no
matter what fitness level, no matter how active... stay

doctors and their timidness with resurfacing and an

vs recreational activity... ..the story of cory inspired me
to call dr vijay bose, and i find myself here and ready to
for resurfacing...

to be one of "us"... and want to help...
