Stanley Frazier
Bi-lat September 17 & 19, 2007 Dr. Gross
Stanley Frazier and Family
My name is Stanley Frazier. I am a 49
year old male who lives in Lexington, South Carolina. I had
been living with severe pain in both my hips for over 10
years. I was diagnosed with osteoarthritis and was told I
needed both my hips replaced. At the time I was seeing
another orthopaedic doctor who advised me that I was too
young for the surgery and would recommend waiting until my
50th birthday and then he would perform a double total hip
replacement.
I tried to make it through those ten
years as best I could. I took arthritis pain medications
constantly (Vioxx, Bextra, Celebrex, and Advil). I could
barely walk after being on my feet for any length of time,
and could not bend down to tie my shoes. I was losing all
the mobility in my hips and would have trouble sleeping at
night because the pain was so great.
I found out about hip resurfacing from a
friend of mine, and he recommended to see Dr. Thomas Gross.
After much prayer and researching hip resurfacing, I asked
my family doctor to please refer me to Dr. Gross and after
meeting with him, decided to let him perform my hip
resurfacing surgeries.
Both my surgeries were performed at
Providence NorthEast Hospital. The left hip was resurfaced
on September 17th, 2007 and then the right hip on September
19th, 2007. Lee Webb assisted Dr. Gross with both my
surgeries with great success. I was admitted on that Monday
morning and was released the following Friday. I could tell
immediately that the arthritis pain was gone. I was sore
from the surgeries, but nothing like before. I was up
walking on crutches right after both my surgeries and
rehabbed at home for the next three weeks. I came off all
pain medication after the first week at home.
I returned to my job after only 4 weeks
post-surgery and got rid of my crutches the same week. I
continued to perform the exercises that Lee Webb had
instructed me to do, and started walking 1 mile a day.
After six weeks post-op, I returned to
see Dr. Gross for my check-up and got a glowing report. I
will go back to see him after one year from my surgery date.
Dr. Gross is the best orthopaedic surgeon in South Carolina
and possibly the best surgeon in the nation. Everyone at
Midlands Orthopaedics treated me so nice and I would
recommend anyone thinking about hip resurfacing surgery,
needs to contact them.
I told Dr. Gross that I felt that God had
directed my path to him and I am so glad I chose him as my
surgeon. I feel like a new person, and I am looking forward
to being able to do things with my family again. My quality
of live is so much better. Thank the good Lord for giving me
another chance at happiness.
