Dear Pat,
I am very glad
for your reply. I wrote a similar letter approximately 6 months before but
probably you not received it. But it doesn't matter, I hope that now it will not
repeat.
I think I must write you something of
myself. I am 69 years man, pensionist. My hip pains begun in 2006 when I run for a
tram in Prague. I think ingenuously it stop when I will repose but it continued. I look for my surgeon, Dr.
Trc with X-ray snap and he had call me to the surgery for eleven months. He said
that my bones and hip are quite suitable for resurfacing.
I knew nothing of it at this time but I
searched all on Internet. I find a web pages of Pavel Prochazka who was operated
by Dr. De Smet, 3 years before. There was many reports of the resurfacing and, of course, in your
pages. That was my daily reading in those times, before my surgery day but also post my coming home. I
used the crutches, nearly 3 months – my wife was my watch angel (and she is the same
always). I was driving our car post 2 months.
My surgery day was 12-th of February. I
felt quite well post the surgery and I had no much pain but I must get 2
transfusions 'cause I had lost much of blood. My recovering have had very
successfully – I stayed for 3 weeks in the recovering institute near Prague.
I must repeat my operated (right) hip is
exquisite. I can walk anywhere but not run – maybe I am a little afraid to
run. But I am also a little afraid of my left hip – sometimes I feel a little
similar ache. I hope in my surgeon that he will know all of it. I'll go to him for
the periodical visit in February 2009,a year post the surgery.
Cordially,
Jan Kolman,Tabor, Czech Republic
