I sit in Chennai 4 days post op on my right hip, Birmingham w/ Dr. Bose.  Today when I seem to have gotten past the pain bits and am actually looking at my gait.

I am breaking my return trip from Chennai in Munich for 6 days (enjoying German beer, bread and brats!).  18 days post op and did an easy 2-hour bike around the city's parks today.  Leg still a bit long but coming around.

It has been 6 months and I had x-rays taken of the hip. I think they look good!

I haven't been very active due to work demands but am swimming 3-4 times a week, cycling twice a week on my bike with the PowerCranks I got about 2 months ago. Sometimes I ride a stationary bike in the gym while reading. I have been doing Pilates for about 3 months and find some of the exercises very good for the hip / leg / buttock muscles. I have also been doing a bit of running for 2 months; most of the running was on a treadmill for about 10 - 15 minutes but have run outdoors 5 times for about 15 minutes. There was discomfort at first, especially after 10 minutes, but that has lessened recently. This weekend I will try running 30 minutes (on grass).

All in all the hip is good. There are some movements with the leg that are restricted a bit. The length discrepancy is virtually gone but the right leg is still quite atrophied. I don't seem to recover very quickly (never have, and never have been able to build muscle in spite of the amount of weight training I do).
