March 25, 2010 Post-op info I
did have an MC accident 2006. I was hit by a taxi from behind and
had a lot of trauma on left side and shoulders and head. I do not
remember the accident, When I woke up there was already police and
an ambulance in place. Gradually 2007/2008 I got more and more pains
in my right leg. I did not understand why. I visited a number of
treatments and nobody could tell why I had pains. I had to stop
running and my walking distance without pain became shorter and
shorter. My doctor did send me to an x-ray late 2008 and then they
said that I did have a hip problem.
I did try to fix this without any operation for a
year with omega3, glucosamine and a lot of stuff for giving better
function of joints. I also tried shock therapy on my right hip
(developed by a Norwegian company) together with a lot of
stretching. I am much better now than in winter 2008 but I
understand that it will not give me full mobility and possibilities
to run and walk. I still can do a lot of things like going on a
bicycle to work and swimming and skiing, the pain then (normally) is
manageable but I am very limited and I like to get back to normal
mobility.
I am 55 years old, Swedish male, like to do sports like running,
skiing, inlines, climbing etc. I still try to play squash but it is
painful after a while and I run mostly on my left leg when playing,
the left one is like a log that I drag behind me.... I really like
to play normally again. I have three children (grownups, female,
male, female) and I live in an old house from 1929 in a
community called Sollentuna 20k outside Stockholm.

April 07, 2010
This week has been a bit tense. I am questioning
my decision back and forth. My doctor told me that it is like going
to the dentist. When you are in the waiting room you do not have any
pains anymore and wants to go home. I am flying with Lufthansa from
Stockholm to Munich and the pilots are talking about going to a
strike for better agreements. Between the 13-16 of April and I am
flying home on the 15:th with Lufthansa, hmmmm?
I visited my local hospital and the provided me with a lot of stuff
(my car was filled) like, things to sit on in the car and at home,
extension for the toilet, high chair to sit on in the shower, things
to elevate the bed with, something to assist with putting on socks
with and other stuff like a gripping device to use when picking up
things from the floor. They were really good and helpful. They also
asked where I was going and why. When I told the m about DR Völker
and BHR they said that the rehabilitation of BHR is much better than
with THR, sounds very promising to me.
I am really trying to think of everything before I go like stored
food, inviting friends and nice blonds that can entertain me while I
am looking up in the ceiling, getting help with buying food and
stuff (I am single). Filling up the freezer and changing to summer
tires on the car.
Tomorrow, Thursday I am leaving around 6 in the morning to go to the
airport. My operation is on Friday the 9:th of April. A nice
limousine from ATOS clinic will meet me at the airport. Good
service.
Will get back with more e-mails later.
Bye from Stockholm,
Anders
