My name is Paul, I am 47, and am 7 weeks post op
with a right BHR procedure. Dr. Raterman in Tampa Florida did my
surgery and I am very, very pleased. I spent the last 2 years trying
to figure out what was going on with my right hip, going to various
Orthopedic Surgeons around town until I ran into Dr. Raterman. I
wish I had known about your site two years ago, because I would like
to have those years back. I went from college soccer player to power
lifter to triathlete to sitting on my A##, until I had the surgery.
I had the surgery on Monday, went home on Tuesday, got rid of the
walker by Thursday, got rid of the cane and my PT guy by Friday. I
have had no pain in my hip since day one. I took no pain medicine
and other than itching from the glue they used on the bandages and a
fever (Tylenol took care of that the first week) I have had a great
recovery.
I was driving by day 8, and in the gym on the stationary bike by day
12. My recovery in the gym has been stretching, biking, quad and
hamstring work, inner and outer adductor machine work, and two weeks
ago, easy squats with light weight.
I have not been able to run yet, but from reading articles on your
website, it looks like I will have to wait another month or so.
Dr. Raterman is an awesome doctor and I have had several of my
friends already have the same surgery.
If you have been diagnosed with FAI or bone spurs or something
similar and are Florida, it is worth your time to go see him. I plan
to get back into Triathlon racing next year, and I though I would
never be able say that .
