I started running again 5 months after the operation when I had the feeling that the operated leg had the same strength again as the non-operated one. I build it up very slowly by running 1 min., walking 4 min. for half an hour, then the other week 2 min. running 3 min. walking and so on. when I could run half an hour at a stretch I added another half hour using the same method. I have participated in different 5k and 10k runs. So one hour was the maximum time I ran. Now that i have reached the 2 year mark I'm going to extend the running time to work up to a 1/2 marathon. | Wed, 11/28/07 3:01 PM |

| 70. | I've been living in the tropics during most of these two post op years, so running in the humidity and heat has not been an attractive or desired form of sport. Back in California now, I'm running everyday during short spurts (approximately 60 meters at a time) while chasing after my frisbee golf discs on a 27 hole disc golf course in Santa Cruz. The hilly course here requires players to walk about 4 to 5 miles. I usually play by myself and run through the entire course. | Wed, 11/21/07 10:39 PM |

| 246. | Yes, I have run and not suffered any complications whatsoever. I can do many things now I could not do before and at 50 yrs old I feel more like 40! I surf, snowboard, ride a bike and motorcycles which are all things I had to quit when the pain got bad in my hip. I also swim and play water polo which are things I DID do before (even with the pain) only I am MUCH more adept with my new hip. Overall, I would equate this surgery with having a rebirth of sorts...a second chance at life thanks to Dr. Bose and the Apollo Hospital group that cured me.
